Made in Spain: The Craft of Summer

Made in Spain: The Craft of Summer

At Edward Meller, every shoe is designed with a focus on craftsmanship, comfort and considered design. Our Spring ’26 Made in Spain collection reflects this philosophy, bringing together generations of Spanish shoemaking expertise with a modern approach to warm-weather dressing.

Crafted in Spain by skilled artisans, the collection is produced across two specialist Spanish factories, each with its own area of expertise. One is dedicated to the traditional craft of espadrille making, while the other specialises in beautifully constructed pumps and sandals. Both are family-run, multi-generational factories where craftsmanship and attention to detail remain at the heart of every pair.

These long-standing relationships with our Spanish makers allow us to create footwear that balances tradition with contemporary design — shoes that feel refined and relevant, while retaining the quality and character that comes from generations of specialist knowledge.

The Art of the Espadrille

Few shoes capture the feeling of the warmer months quite like the espadrille. With origins dating back centuries, espadrilles are deeply connected to Spanish culture and have become an enduring symbol of Mediterranean summer style.

Traditionally crafted using natural jute to create their distinctive rope soles, espadrilles were designed to be lightweight, flexible and suited to warmer climates. Over time, the silhouette has evolved from its humble beginnings into a summer wardrobe staple, spanning everything from relaxed flats to elevated wedges.

At Edward Meller, espadrilles have long been an iconic part of our spring and summer collections. Each season, we travel to Spain to work with our makers and curate a new collection that celebrates this heritage while bringing a contemporary perspective to the traditional espadrille.

For Spring ’26, the collection includes low-heel espadrilles, mid-heel espadrilles and elevated espadrille wedges, designed to move effortlessly between everyday dressing, holidays and summer occasions.

Spanish Craftsmanship, Beyond the Espadrille

Our Made in Spain story extends beyond espadrilles. Working with a second specialist Spanish factory, we create a considered collection of flats, pumps and sandals that showcases another side of the country’s rich shoemaking tradition.

Here, premium materials and precise construction take centre stage. Supple leathers, soft suedes and beautifully finished seasonal textures are carefully selected and expertly handled to create refined silhouettes that feel as beautiful to wear as they look.

From elegant flats and pumps designed to move effortlessly from work to occasion dressing, to sophisticated sandals made for the warmer months, each style is shaped by a focus on proportion, fit and finish.

This attention to detail — from the initial cut of the leather through construction and finishing — defines our Spanish-made footwear and sets it apart.

Crafted for the Season

While the techniques and silhouettes may differ across our two Spanish factories, they share the same commitment to quality and craftsmanship.

For Spring ’26, that expertise comes together in a collection designed for the many ways we dress throughout the warmer months. Espadrilles bring effortless ease to linen, denim, and summer dresses; refined sandals transition seamlessly from daytime dressing to evening occasions; and timeless pumps offer a polished option for work, events, and everything in between.

Blending Spanish heritage, specialist craftsmanship and contemporary design, our Spring ’26 Made in Spain collection celebrates shoes designed not simply for one season, but to be worn and returned to for years to come.

Inspired by the women who pass through hotel lobbies around the world, Edward Meller's Spring Summer 2026 campaign celebrates the many moments that shape modern life through timeless design, comfort and craftsmanship.

On Monday 11 May, the opening night of Australian Fashion Week, Edward Meller returned as the official footwear partner of the Carla Zampatti runway for the third consecutive year.

Set against the iconic boardwalk at Park Hyatt Sydney, the show unfolded across two moments — an industry presentation followed by a consumer show — bringing together fashion, community and a shared appreciation for modern occasion dressing.
