Introducing Edward Meller’s Wide Calf Boots: Designed to Fit More Women Beautifully
For years, customers have come into our stores asking the same question.
They love the quality, comfort and timeless style Edward Meller is known for, but many were searching for boots that offered more room through the calf. They wanted the same beautifully crafted leather boots they had come to rely on from the brand, simply designed to accommodate a wider calf.
It’s a conversation our in-store teams know well, and one that has shaped the development of this collection.
A Collection Long in the Making
Creating our first wide calf boot collection has been a considered process that has been in development for some time. As a brand built on fit, we wanted to ensure these boots reflected the same standards our customers expect from Edward Meller.
We began by working closely with our in-store teams and measuring customers who came to us specifically looking for wide calf boots. These conversations gave us valuable insight into the different calf shapes and proportions women have, helping guide the design process.
From there, we began refining the collection.
Rethinking the Wide Calf Boot
As we researched the market, we noticed many wide calf boots relied heavily on synthetic materials or large stretch panels to create extra room through the calf.
While this approach works, it wasn’t what our customers were asking for.
Edward Meller customers expect premium materials and timeless design, so we focused on sourcing stretch leather and stretch suede that would allow for flexibility while maintaining the integrity of a full leather boot.
The result is a wide calf boot collection crafted from quality materials, offering the extra room through the calf many women need without compromising the refined aesthetic the brand is known for.
Developed With Our Team and Customers
Our team members played an important role in bringing this collection to life.
After gathering measurements from customers and staff, the boots were fit-tested by Edward Meller team members as well as fit models with wider calves. Each style was refined through multiple fittings until we achieved the right balance between fit and proportion.
The final collection includes four knee high wide calf boots on different heel heights, each designed with slightly different calf measurements to accommodate a range of calf shapes. VACANO30 and VIM30 offer the most generous calf fit, while the remaining styles provide slightly slimmer proportions for those who still want additional room through the leg.
Each style is also available in two colour options, allowing customers to choose between versatile classics and richer seasonal tones.
