Understanding Heel Height
Heel height is measured from the sole of the shoe down to the floor. Because platforms or soft insoles reduce the angle of your foot, the height you feel—your “effective heel height”—can be lower. For example, an 80 mm heel with a 20 mm platform feels more like a 60 mm heel.
